A short account of Assadullah Danish’s activities during the past six months
Asadullah Danish (Ashoka Fellow) is a well-known social and academic figure across in Pashtun inhabited areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
During the last six months Mr Danish has inaugurated and established many libraries in both the countries. He has also donated hundred of books to private and public libraries in Pashtun belt of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He is running a reputed publishing house. He also distributes published books among Pashtuns and sends them to people across the world to increase the number of Pashto learners.
He has been setting up libraries in far-flung areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. So far Mr Danish has been established more than 100 libraries in both the countries. Some of his achievements and activities during the last six months are as:
1- Mr Danish paid a visit to Peshawar Press Club and met the president of the press club, Shamim Shahid. During the meeting they discussed some academic issues. After the meeting Mr Danish donated more than 500 books to Peshawar Press Club. The members and office-bearers of the press club eulogised his efforts and services for the promotion of literacy and Pashto literature.

2- Mr Danish visited Kandahar province of Afghanistan and held meetings with academicians and writers such as Dr Tariq Rashad, the son of Alama Abdul Shakoor Rashad, a well-known writer and academician of the sub-continent, Mohmmadyar, the founder of Benwa Cultural Association. During this trip he donated more than 300 books to the library of Benawa Cultural Association and to the public library of Dr Tariq rashad.
3- After coming back from Kandahar, Mr. Danish was invited to a seminar in Mazar-e-Sharif. The seminar was attended by more than 2,000 writers, poets, and intellectuals. Asad Danish was chief guest at the seminar. He announced to set up libraries in Mazar-e-Sharif. He also donated more than 500 books to one of the cultural associations of the region. 4- After this Trip, he visited Laghman, his home province, where he had already established dozens of libraries for public. During his visit, Mr Danish inspected these libraries to solve the problems of their administration. He donated some more books to these libraries and met the local people, especially youths. On the occasion, he also established a new public library at Mahtar Lam, the headquarters of Laghman. He also established a new public library in Qarghaio district of this province. 6_ Mr. Danish established a well organised library in Jani Khel district of Paktika providence of Afghanistan. The students and youths of the district lauded Mr Danish for establishing the library and donating more than 500 books to it.

7_ Meanwhile, Asad Danish visited Russia to participate in a conference, which was organised by the Foreign Ministry of Russia. The seminar was titled Russia-Afghanistan Relationship.
About 80 persons across the world were invited to take part in the conference. They remained there for two weeks and had meetings with different social, national and governmental institutions to explore ways and means for improving relations between the two neighbouring countries.
